The Girl Who Chased the Moon

The Girl Who Chased the MoonI always liked to believe that i’ve somewhat turned into a bookworm. Trust me. If you look back to my childhood and compare the amount of reading i did then, to the amount i do now… you’d think i was an entirely different person.

Now, i’m not saying that i read all day every day; i don’t. but occasionally i do love to pick up a book once in a while. When i made that transition into reading a lot, it was like i had discovered this whole new form of entertainment. I was always searching and browsing the shelves of book stores looking for my “next great read.” I was hooked. I couldn’t get enough. I was fascinated by these worlds that were drawn up for me, and captivated by the lives of people i knew not of, but wanted to know SO much about. I loved the characters in my books. i got to know them in a way that was so much more detailed than anything i could get from watching a movie. I couldn’t get enough. I wanted to be their friends. I wanted to fall in love. I did fall in love. These characters helped me to escape my life if only for a few hours and live vicariously through them. I was able to take chances, to get my heart broken with them, to get disappointed, but i was only so fearless because i knew within a few chapters they would be alright. The characters I got to know and grew to love WOULD have their happy ending.

Mind you, i only became a bookwork maybe about two years ago. and i’ve read a good amount of books. but every once in a while, a book will fall into my lap that i enjoy… and then there are the handful of books that i ADORE and wish would never ever end. Every once in a while i’ll come across a book that i enjoy so much that i want YOU to enjoy it as well so we can gush about how awesome it is. Every once in a while i’ll come across a book so much that i just HAVE to write about how much i adore it.
Sarah Addison Allen’s book, The Girl Who Chased the Moon is one of those books. I mean, COME ON! just look at that cover! the title! THe girl who chased the moon! it’s so whimsical on its own! And the story.. oh my GOD the STORY! i just can’t get over how much i adored this book. The characters, the story, the mystery, the romance…. this book had it ALL. I felt like it was all so real and all so magical… it was like a fairy tale.

I tend to favor those types of books that are fluff and easy reads. The predictable romantic type. I liked predictable, i was comfortable with predictable. The tale of the 20 something girl who meets her match and falls desperately in love with him. This book was that and SO MUCH more. Addison’s prose and style was flawless. Her characters were likable. And the story was captivating. I recommend this book whole heartedly. And i think it’s safe to say that i’ve just discovered my new favorite book. and just possibly might have found my new favorite author…. i can’t wait to read her other books.

OH and as a bonus… this book also has cake recipes in the back… which i will DEFINITELY be attempting!

Getting ahead in a difficult profession requires avid faith in yourself. That is why some people with mediocre talent, but with great inner drive, go much further than people with vastly superior talent.
